Team Buddies - PSX - 2000
Introduced and scripted a mission-based single-player structure to the otherwise multiplayer-focused Team Buddies.
I designed and built more than half of the levels, working closely with the Art Director to maintain the visual style and consistency.
Team Buddies is a third-person puzzle shooter - an early precursor to Fortnite and other construction combat shooters. In this charming military-themed puzzle game, pill-shaped soldiers stacked crates in specific configurations to make weapons and vehicles to fight other brightly colored teams.
Team Buddies was a formative experience. While the game didn't leave a massive legacy in the mainstream, its development taught me invaluable lessons about innovation, collaboration, and the realities of game design. It is an artifact of a unique time in the industry, just before the shift towards more mature, story-driven games. Team Buddies represents a period of exploration and creativity that has significantly influenced my career path.
